Davy Preuveneers

I am a research manager of imec-DistriNet, the Distributed and Secure Software research group of the Department of Computer Science of KU Leuven, Belgium. My research interests are in the field of federated identity and access management, data mining and machine learning for security and privacy, scalable distributed systems and event-based middleware for context-aware, mobile and embedded applications, semantic modeling and reasoning for intelligent environments. I lead a team of researchers and projects on these topics with a particular focus on applications in the area of the pervasive and ubiquitous computing, Internet of Things, e-health, finance, media and Industry 4.0.

I have published over 100 journal articles and conference papers. My scientific research was awarded with 5 best paper awards. I am a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Ambient Intelligence and Smart Environments, and served as a guest editor in four journal issues. I was involved in the organizing committee of 9 international conferences, and was a member of the program committee in more than 20 different conferences, symposia and workshops.

I have been supervising 10 PhD students, and manage various projects with industry on batch and streaming computation with rapid decision support for enterprise-level context-aware applications, user friendly and privacy-aware federated authentication for media providers, enhanced authorization and access control in e-health applications, as well as systematic scalability analysis of complex enterprise applications.
